Stephen Bennett is the Member for Burnett and Chair of the Queensland Parliament’s Primary Industries and Resources Committee. Representing one of Queensland’s most productive agricultural regions, Stephen is passionate about supporting innovation, sustainability, and resilience in primary industries

 

In his role as Chair, Stephen leads parliamentary oversight of legislation and policy across primary industries, natural resources, and regional development. He is currently overseeing inquiries into Queensland’s sugar industry and the future of bioenergy, with a particular focus on unlocking investment and innovation through value-adding and sustainable practices.

Stephen has long championed the interests of farmers and producers in the Burnett, which is home to diverse agricultural sectors including sugarcane, beef, macadamias, citrus and horticulture. He has been a vocal advocate for cutting red tape, improving regulatory efficiency, and driving practical reforms that support long-term growth across Queensland’s primary industries.
