Welcome reception

An unforgettable evening at the official TropAg Dinner — a perfect blend of networking, dining, and celebration. The dinner offered a relaxed atmosphere where attendees connected with peers, and enjoyed a curated menu featuring local native cuisine.

Our Long Lunch — a relaxed and social midday gathering. This extended lunch was more than just a meal; it was an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, share insights, and deepen connections with fellow attendees in a more informal setting.

These activities happened alongside the main conference, including research facility tours, networking events for HDR students and EMCRs, and partner-led sessions. Plant Futures Facility Tour
The Plant Growth Collaborative Research Platform at the University of Queensland is proud to host guided tours of the Plant Futures Facility during Trop Ag.
With a UQ investment of $65 million, this world-class facility was officially handed over to the Plant Growth Collaborative Research Platform at the end of 2024. Today, it stands as the most advanced plant growth infrastructure in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Plant Futures Facility is designed to develop sustainable, adaptable, and secure systems for food, fibre, and fuel production. What sets it apart is its beautiful design, scale and precision. Its controlled growth environments allow researchers to simulate Queensland’s climates, as well as temperate and tropical conditions, exceeding international standards for both research and commercial practice. TropAg 2025 Higher Degree by Research Networking Event
Higher Degree by Research students and researchers came together for an evening of fun at Archie Brothers, Bowen Hills. This relaxed networking event, held just before the TropAg Conference, was a great opportunity to meet peers from across UQ and beyond, share ideas, and build lasting collaborations in a casual setting.

TropAg 2025 Early and Mid-Career Researchers Networking Event
We kicked off conference week by connecting with fellow researchers at the Jubilee Hotel, a short walk from the Royal International Convention Centre.
Canapés and drinks were enjoyed on arrival, followed by a short presentation from UQ’s QAAFI EMCR Association. This relaxed evening was the perfect opportunity to build new connections, share ideas, and celebrate the start of TropAg 2025 in a welcoming and social setting.
